“Approaching every client relationship with genuine care and a commitment to doing the work right.”

Sue Hopwood is a Tax Supervisor at WCG with two decades of professional experience supporting tax preparation, research, and client consultation. With a practical mindset and steady approach, Sue focuses on delivering reliable work while making sure clients feel supported for the right reasons—not simply because it’s part of the job.

Professional Background & Expertise

At WCG, Sue’s primary focus is tax preparation, complemented by research and consultation when complex questions arise. Her experience allows her to approach engagements with both confidence and thoughtful attention to detail.

Over the course of her career, Sue has developed a professional style grounded in accuracy and documentation. She understands that well-prepared records and careful analysis create the foundation for dependable tax outcomes.

Education

Sue earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver. One of her favorite areas of study was communications, a subject that continues to influence her clear and supportive client interactions.

She later passed the Enrolled Agent exam, further strengthening her technical knowledge and professional capabilities.

Client-Focused Philosophy

Sue wants every client to feel that she is there to help because she genuinely wants to—not simply because it is her responsibility. By approaching each relationship with authenticity and care, she works to build trust while providing dependable guidance.

Life Beyond the Office

Sue grew up in Boulder, Colorado, where she played the saxophone during her school years and later joined the flag line in her high school marching band.

Today, she is married and enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her adult sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Outside of work, she finds fulfillment in gardening and appreciating the outdoors.

Curiosity That Became a Career

Sue discovered accounting somewhat unexpectedly after enrolling in an introductory course out of curiosity. The subject quickly captured her interest, setting her on a professional path that continues to reflect both dedication and thoughtful engagement.

Our Amazing Team Members

Wanna Talk About Your Small Business?

Please use the form below to tell us a little about yourself, and what you have going on with your small business or 1099 contractor gig. WCG CPAs & Advisors are small business CPAs, tax professionals and consultants, and we look forward to talking to you!

We typically schedule a 20-minute complimentary quick chat with one of our Partners or Senior Tax Professionals to determine if we are a good fit for each other, and how an engagement with our team looks. Tax returns only? Business advisory? Tax prep, and more importantly tax strategy and planning?

Should we need to schedule an additional consultation, our fee is $250 for 40 minutes. Fun! If we decide to press forward with a Business Advisory or Tax Patrol Services engagement, we will credit the consultation fee towards those services.

Appointments are typically held through Microsoft Teams and are scheduled on weekdays during the work day. Yes, we can easily accommodate nights and weekends, but those are reluctantly agreed to after some eye-rolling and complaining. Additionally, our schedules are more compressed during tax season (who would have thought, right?).

Shockingly we will return all appointment requests via email with 24-36 hours weather-permitting, or perhaps a phone call (if the moment strikes us). No black holes here! In a hurry, please call us at 719-387-9800.
