Tina Watson, CPA, CFP

Founding Partner

“Leading with experience, transparency, and a long-term commitment to client relationships.”

Tina Watson, CPA, CFP, is the Founding Partner of WCG, where she guides the firm’s strategic direction while maintaining a strong focus on client experience and team development. With more than three decades of professional experience, Tina brings steady leadership, operational insight, and a relationship-driven approach that has helped shape the firm into what it is today.

Professional Background & Expertise

As the founder of WCG, Tina’s role has evolved alongside the firm’s growth. She works closely with her husband, also a partner, to lead strategy, support team development, and ensure the organization continues to deliver high-quality service. In addition to executive leadership, she performs CFO and controller responsibilities for the firm.

Tina oversees roughly 1,000 client engagements and leads a Tax Team of seven, helping them remain supported, informed, and positioned for success. Her leadership emphasizes both operational excellence and an exceptional client experience.

Education & Credentials

Tina holds a Master of Business Administration, is a licensed CPA, and earned her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Her longstanding love of math originally led her to consider teaching algebra at the college level—an early interest that ultimately helped shape her analytical career path.

She maintains active involvement in professional organizations including the CPA community, the CFP community, and the AICPA, reinforcing her ongoing commitment to professional standards.

Client-Focused Philosophy

Tina’s approach is direct, efficient, and grounded in long-term relationships. Many of her clients have worked with her for more than 15 years, a reflection of the trust she prioritizes and the consistency she brings to every engagement.

Professional Values

  • Hard work

Life Beyond the Office

Tina grew up in both Atlanta and Colorado Springs, and one of her earliest passions was horseback riding—a lifelong interest she never quite outgrew.

She is married to her best friend and business partner, and together they have raised three capable, independent adult children. At home, their two cats help keep life entertaining. Outside of work, Tina enjoys tennis—whether playing, watching, or discussing the sport—and values time spent staying active and recharging.

A Career That Found Its Way

Tina often says accounting chose her. Early in her career, she stepped into a retiring bookkeeper’s role at the request of her boss—an opportunity that sparked a lasting passion for accounting and, later, tax. What began as a chance moment ultimately became the foundation of a fulfilling profession.

Jason Watson, CPA, is a Senior Partner of WCG CPAs & Advisors, a boutique yet progressive tax, accounting and business consultation firm located in Colorado serving small business owners and taxpayers worldwide.

Our Amazing Team Members

Wanna Talk About Your Small Business?

Please use the form below to tell us a little about yourself, and what you have going on with your small business or 1099 contractor gig. WCG CPAs & Advisors are small business CPAs, tax professionals and consultants, and we look forward to talking to you!

We typically schedule a 20-minute complimentary quick chat with one of our Partners or Senior Tax Professionals to determine if we are a good fit for each other, and how an engagement with our team looks. Tax returns only? Business advisory? Tax prep, and more importantly tax strategy and planning?

Should we need to schedule an additional consultation, our fee is $250 for 40 minutes. Fun! If we decide to press forward with a Business Advisory or Tax Patrol Services engagement, we will credit the consultation fee towards those services.

Appointments are typically held through Microsoft Teams and are scheduled on weekdays during the work day. Yes, we can easily accommodate nights and weekends, but those are reluctantly agreed to after some eye-rolling and complaining. Additionally, our schedules are more compressed during tax season (who would have thought, right?).

Shockingly we will return all appointment requests via email with 24-36 hours weather-permitting, or perhaps a phone call (if the moment strikes us). No black holes here! In a hurry, please call us at 719-387-9800.
